Welcome Weekend 2016 is an extensive three and a half day experience for all new students to USF beginning Thursday, August 25th. During Welcome Weekend, students will have the opportunity to meet faculty, staff, and their new student cohort, Student Mentors, and Orientation Leaders–the first step toward making life-long friends. By participating, new students will gain a solid foundation for a successful collegiate career. In addition to gaining a sense of belonging, students will explore tips and tools to academic success, discover ways to become involved outside of the classroom, learn how to become a responsible and contributing member of our community, and understand the unique culture of a Catholic Franciscan liberal arts education.
Whether you are a traditional first-time freshman or you are a non-traditional transfer student, there is something offered for you! All new students are required to attend Welcome Weekend activities in order to ensure a solid foundation to a strong college experience. Please be sure to register for Welcome Weekend 2016.
Please contact the New Student Coordinator at 260.399.8100 ext. 6740 if you have questions. Students who are unable to attend Welcome Weekend should make individual arrangements with the New Student Coordinator in advance.
I’m a student age 21 or older, but I’m also a Transfer student. How do I sign up for Welcome Weekend?
If you are both an adult (age 21 or older) and transferring from another college or university, please sign up using the ‘I am a Transfer Student’ option. There will be options available for you to meet both with other transfers and other adult students.
When do classes begin?
Classes begin on Monday, August 29, 2016.
Can I bring a guest to Welcome Weekend?
Welcome Weekend is a time for students to begin transitioning to collegiate life. It is important for students to have the freedom to engage with their peers and the Welcome Weekend programs independently. As such, Welcome Weekend is just for newly-enrolled USF students.
Family of resident students are invited to the Matriculation Mass and Send-Off Ceremony on Thursday, August 25 after making the move into the residence hall.
Do I have to pay for Welcome Weekend?
An Orientation Fee is included in your student bill—make sure to get your money’s worth by attending as much of Welcome Weekend as possible!
What materials will I need for Welcome Weekend?
Bring your USF student ID along with your computer password. You will want to wear good shoes for walking, comfortable clothing (we will be outside for part of the day), and a pencil or pen for writing. If rain is in the forecast, feel free to bring an umbrella. Other material will be provided for you when you arrive at check-in.
Can I purchase my books during Welcome Weekend?
If you are moving on campus on Thursday, August 25, you can make your way to the Campus Shoppe after you get settled into your room before Welcome Weekend kicks-off.
More information will be available in the detailed schedule that students receive in early August.
Transfer students and students 21 or older may purchase books by arriving to campus prior to check-in on Saturday.
